 1, Sherman was a prominent figure in Connecticut politics and a successful
  lawyer and merchant. He served as a delegate to the Continental Congress 
 and was a key figure in drafting the Declaration of Independence. Sherman 
 also played an essential role in the Constitutional Convention of 1787, wh
 ere he proposed the "Great Compromise," which led to the creation of a bic
 ameral legislature (the Senate and House of Representatives). His contribu
 tions to the foundation of the United States were significant, and he is r
 emembered as a pragmatic and effective leader in early American history.</
