William Paca was born on October 31, 1740, in Abington, Maryland. He was a lawyer, judge, and poli tician who became one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. P aca served as a delegate to the Continental Congress and later helped draf t Maryland's state constitution. He went on to become the third governor o f Maryland and was later appointed as a federal judge by President George Washington.
