Wife of President John Quincy Adams
Louisa Adams (1775 -1852) was the wife of John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the United States, and served as First Lady from 1825 to 1829. Born in London to a British diplomat, Louisa Catherine Johnson moved to the U.S. after her marriage to John Quincy Adams in 1797. She was the first foreign-born First Lady of the United States. Louisa was known for her intelligence, artistic talents, and strong political views, often influencing her husband's decisions. After her husband's presidency, she lived quietly and wrote her memoirs, which offer a unique perspective on early American politics.
