Abigail Fillmore (1798 - 1853) was the wife of Millard Fillmore, the 13th President of the United States. Born in Saratoga County, New York, she married Millard in 1826, and together they had two children. Abigail was known for her intellectual curiosity and was the first First Lady to have a formal education. She was an advocate for education and played a key role in the establishment of the Library of Congress in the White House, a significant contribution to American culture. Abigail passed away from pneumonia shortly after leaving the White House, at the age of 55.
