Benjamin Harrison (1726 - 1791) was a prominent American Founding Father, known for his role in the early history of the United States. Born in Virginia on April 5, 1726, he was a successful planter and a strong advocate for colonial rights. Harrison served in the Virginia House of Burgesses and was a delegate to the Continental Congress. He is best remembered for being one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. A member of the Virginia gentry, Harrison was also a significant figure in the political life of Virginia and helped shape the early government of the United States. His leadership contributed to the fight for independence, and he played a key role in the establishment of the new nation. Harrison is the father of William Henry Harrison, the ninth President of the United States.
