Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States, serving from 1974 to 1977. Born on July 14, 1913 in Nebraska and raised in Michigan, he became a lawyer and congressman, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for 25 years. Ford became vice president in 1973 after Spiro Agnew resigned, and then president in 1974 when Richard Nixon resigned over the Watergate scandal. He is the only U.S. president to have never been elected as vice president or president. Ford is known for pardoning Nixon and working to restore trust in government. He died in 2006 at age 93.
