Henry A. Wallace was an American politician, agronomist, and economist who served as Vice President under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1941 to 1945. Born in Iowa on October 7, 1888, he was a leader in agricultural science and helped develop hybrid corn that transformed farming. Wallace also served as Secretary of Agriculture and Secretary of Commerce. Known for his progressive and internationalist views, he ran for president in 1948 as the candidate of the Progressive Party. Later in life, he continued advocating for civil rights, social reform, and global cooperation.
