Description:
Francis Lightfoot Lee was born in 1734 in Virginia. He was a planter and politician and a member of the prominent Lee family. Lee served in the Virginia House of Burgesses and later in the state legislature. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and supported American independence throughout his life. He died in 1797.
