John Nance Garner was born on November 22, 1868, in Red River County, Texas. He was an American politician who served as the 32nd vice president of the United States under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1933 to 1941. Before becoming vice president, Garner served for many years in the U.S. House of Representatives, including as Speaker of the House. Known for his blunt and colorful personality, he played an influential role in early New Deal legislation but later disagreed with Roosevelt on several policies. Garner retired from politics in 1941 and died on November 7, 1967.
