Alben W. Barkley |
Alben W. Barkley was born on November 24, 1877, in Graves County, Kentucky. He was an American politician who served as the 35th vice president of the United States under President Harry S. Truman from 1949 to 1953. Barkley also had a long career in Congress, serving as both a U.S. Representative and a U.S. Senator from Kentucky, and was known for his oratory skills and dedication to New Deal and postwar legislation. He died on April 30, 1956.
