Delaware, the first state |
Delaware became the first state to join the United States on December 7, 1787. Located in the Mid-Atlantic region, it is the second smallest state but played a key role in early American history. Known as “The First State,” Delaware was the first to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Its capital is Dover, and Wilmington is its largest city. The state has a strong history in trade, industry, and agriculture.
