Pennsylvania, the second state |
Pennsylvania became the second state to join the United States on December 12, 1787. Located in the Mid-Atlantic region, it is bordered by New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio. Known as the “Keystone State,” Pennsylvania played a central role in American history, including the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution in Philadelphia. Its largest city is Philadelphia, and its capital is Harrisburg.
