Richard Nixon (1913 - 1994) was the 37th president of the United States, serving from 1969 to 1974. A Republican, he is known for major foreign policy achievements, including opening diplomatic relations with China and negotiating arms control agreements with the Soviet Union. Domestically, his administration created the Environmental Protection Agency and implemented policies aimed at reducing inflation and crime. Nixon’s presidency ended early when he resigned in 1974 following the Watergate scandal, becoming the only U.S. president to do so.
