Charles Curtis (January 25, 1860 - February 8, 1936) was an American politician who served as the 31st vice president of the United States from 1929 to 1933 under President Herbert Hoover. A Republican from Kansas, he was the first Native American to hold the office of vice president. Curtis also served as a U.S. senator and was a prominent national political leader in the early 20th century.
