Richard Cheney (January 30, 1941 - November 3, 2025) was an American politician and businessman who served as the 46th vice president of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under President George W. Bush. A member of the Republican Party, Cheney also served as a U.S. representative from Wyoming, White House chief of staff, and secretary of defense. He is known for his influential role in U.S. domestic and foreign policy during the early 21st century.
