Ida McKinley |
Ida McKinley was the wife of William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, and served as First Lady from 1897 to 1901. She was born on June 8, 1847, in Canton, Ohio. Ida came from a prominent and well-off family and received a good education. She married William McKinley in 1871.
Tragically, Ida suffered from a series of health problems and personal losses, including the deaths of both of her young daughters. These hardships deeply affected her physical and emotional health, and she often relied on her husband for support. Despite her illness, she fulfilled her role as First Lady with dignity, and President McKinley was known for his devotion and care for her.
After President McKinley was assassinated in 1901, Ida’s health declined further. She died on May 26, 1907, in Canton, Ohio, and is buried beside her husband.
