Charles G. Dawes was the 30th vice president of the United States, serving from 1925 to 1929 under President Calvin Coolidge. Born on August 27, 1865, in Marietta, Ohio, Dawes was a banker, military general, diplomat, and political figure. He gained national recognition for the Dawes Plan in 1924, which helped stabilize the German economy and restructure World War I reparations, earning him the Nobel Peace Prize. As vice president, Dawes was known for clashing with the Senate and had a limited influence on policy. He later served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Dawes died on April 23, 1951.
