Description:

George Clymer (1739 - 1813) was an American statesman and a Founding Father of the United States. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Clymer played a significant role in the American Revolution, initially as a delegate to the Continental Congress. He signed both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, making him one of the few individuals to contribute to both foundational documents.

Before and during the Revolutionary War, Clymer was involved in various business ventures and was an advocate for independence, helping to secure financial support for the revolutionary cause. He later served as a member of the Pennsylvania state legislature and as the Treasurer of the United States.

Clymer's post-war career included involvement in local governance and economic development. Although not as widely known as other Founding Fathers, his contributions to the early U.S. government and his role in securing independence were significant. He passed away on January 23, 1813, in Philadelphia.
